FIRST Tech Challenge CTC Robotics

Tentative Costs

Currently, CTC provides each team with a FTC Tetrix Robotics competition kit, a laptop with necessary software, digital camera, additional necessary parts and components, tools, and equipment/tool storage (approximately $2000 per team). 

Each member of a CTC Robotics team is financially responsible for cost of team uniform (t-shirt), individual travel cost, $150 in sponsorships/donations as well as portion of team registration fees and event registration fees for qualifying tournaments and FTC World Championship (if eligible). 

Team uniforms for qualifying and state championship tournaments consist of team t-shirt (approx $10), jeans, safety glasses and closed toed shoes.  If a team qualifies for the FTC World Championship, an additional 2-3 t-shirts must be purchased. 

Individual travel cost is based on the number of competitions attended (each student is required to attend 3 qualifying or state championship events) and includes the following:

• Hotel Occupancy (Quad Occupancy - 4 students per double room)
• Transportation expenses (charter bus and/or rental vehicles)

The average cost for individual travel cost during the 2010-2011 season was $150 per event requiring overnight accommodations. This cost may vary depending on the location of the tournament and the number of students attending.  If possible, we will not stay overnight thus reducing the cost of travel by eliminating hotel costs and if possible charter bus costs.

Money collected ($150 per team member) from sponsorships/donations will be applied to pit area set-up, team promotional items, necessary team items such as safety glasses and purchase of specialized parts and/or equipment.

Team registration and event registration costs are divided equally amongst members of each individual team. 

• Team Registration for the 2011-2012 season:  $0 (CTC received funding to pay for $275 2011 season registration for each team).
• Qualifying tournament registration (per event):  $150-200
• State Championship registration (per event): $275
• FTC World Championship registration: $1000

Each team member is encouraged to acquire sponsorships from individuals and local businesses in excess of the required $150 and to participate in various FTC fundraisers such as candy sales.  Any money collected from sponsorships and/or FTC fundraisers will be applied directly to the individual student’s account.
